Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Here at IPE, we’ve hit an exciting milestone: the past 5 customers calling for service work said that they found us online!  Since we started to actively ask customers how they heard about us, I am so happy to hear that the hard work I’ve been putting in to the IPE website, blog, and Facebook page is paying off.

That said, keeping our information on the first page of Google search results is an ongoing project.  I recently found The Periodic Table of SEO Ranking Factors, and think it’s a really good explanation of the integrated steps we need to continually take to improve our rankings:

So what will I be working on in the next couple of days to improve IPE’s SEO rankings?

1.  Insert keywords into meta title tags, image descriptions, and headers.  Make sure that location key words like “Bloomington” and “Normal” appear separately in the text so that residents of either of those cities will find us when they search for “Bloomington + Electrician”.

2.  Add keywords to the “about” page on the IPE blog.

3.  Ensure that the website, blog, and Facebook page are properly triangulated with regular links and posts that refer to other nodes on the triangle.

4.  Keep creating quality online content!

About a week after implementing steps 1, 2, and 3, I’ll be re-testing our keywords to see if these changes have improved our ranks.
